How to Prepare a Mattress for Pickup
Clear the route, identify access limits, and keep the mattress dry. A short preparation pass prevents the most common pickup delays.

Start with the route, not the mattress
Walk from the bedroom to the likely loading point. Open the doors you expect to use and look for tight corners, low lights, wall art, loose rugs, pet gates, and shoes. In an apartment, check whether the elevator needs a key or reservation. Do not move heavy furniture alone simply to create space; describe the obstruction when you call.
Keep it dry and leave the structure intact
A wet mattress is harder and less safe to handle. Keep it indoors or under reliable cover until the pickup. Avoid cutting it open. Exposed wire, staples, and foam make handling riskier and may change what a facility will accept.
Information to have ready
Note the mattress size, quantity, pickup floor, stairs, elevator access, carry distance, and parking situation. Mention stains, tears, pests, moisture, or strong odors before the crew arrives. These details help determine whether special handling is needed.
Apartment pickup checklist
Confirm move hours with management; reserve the elevator if required; protect pets; keep the route clear; identify the legal loading space; keep your phone available around the expected arrival window.
What happens next
The crew reviews the item and access, confirms the scope, moves the mattress through the agreed route, and loads it for the appropriate next destination. A submitted request is not an appointment until availability and job details are confirmed.
